By Kayla Kaplan
Personally, Thanksgiving is a holiday I wish would disappear despite my fierce love of pumpkin pie.
It glorifies colonizers, raising animals for slaughter on a massive scale, and brings a lot of unnecessary and unwanted attention to food and eating that can be triggering for many people. However, there are definitely opportunities to make the holiday more intentional.
In a year where we’re continuously going through unprecedented experiences consider incorporating new traditions and finding personal meaning in ways you haven’t in past years. Check in with yourself, see what you need, and set boundaries to preserve your wellbeing. Extend this to those around you and support the other people in your life, it’s nice to do nice things.
Hoping that however you will spend your 3rd week of November you are safe, healthy, and feeling supported!
For those who choose to commemorate Thanksgiving we have created a master list of vegan food items and full menus available from New England vendors. This list is not complete and welcomes your suggestions and contributions, just email info@theveganzine.com and we’ll update it as often as needed.
